Our Mission

The Emirates Infectious Diseases Society (EIDS) is dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases throughout the UAE, while promoting collaboration among healthcare professionals and improving patient outcomes.

We strive to:

  • Promote the practice, education, and research in the field of infectious diseases
  • Develop nationally-relevant clinical practice guidelines and protocols
  • Raise awareness about infectious diseases, prevention, and control among healthcare providers and the public
  • Collaborate with governmental health authorities on infectious disease control strategies
  • Foster a community of infectious disease specialists and allied healthcare professionals

Our Vision

The Emirates Infectious Diseases Society envisions becoming the leading professional authority on infectious diseases in the UAE and the wider Gulf region. We aim to establish a healthcare ecosystem where infectious diseases are effectively controlled through evidence-based practice, robust surveillance systems, and collaborative multidisciplinary approaches that ensure optimal patient outcomes.

History

The Emirates Infectious Diseases Society (EIDS) was established as a scientific society under the Emirates Medical Association (EMA). We have grown to become a comprehensive organization representing infectious disease specialists across all seven emirates. As the recognized authority on infectious diseases in the UAE, we have developed national clinical guidelines, facilitated knowledge exchange, and established robust collaborations with international organizations to advance our mission of improving infectious disease care.
